The STSM was carried out at the Institute Germans Trias i Pujol (IGTP) under the supervision of Dr. Irene Latorre. The mission focused on acquiring practical and analytical skills in immunophenotyping bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) samples using advanced flow cytometry approaches for tuberculosis (TB) research. BAL sample processing was performed in the BSL-3 facility, so I received training on the safety procedures required for this containment level. I also visited the Serveis Clinics in Barcelona, specialized in TB treatment.
